THEATRE 4 MISSION

Theatre 4 was founded as a collective with a commitment to featuring the talent of Connecticut-based theater professionals. Theatre 4 provides an alternative theatrical experience by offering innovative, affordable entertainment that aims to inspire thought and discussion. In addition to producing established plays, Theatre 4 develops and delivers exciting new work to the New Haven community.

The core company of Theatre 4 is: Rebecka Jones, Mariah Sage, and Jane Tamarkin.

Rebecka Jones

rebecka_webRebecka Jones, a founding member of Theatre 4, started as a visual artist until entering graduate school at Ohio University. While there, she trained to be a professional actor and earned her MFA. She has since performed with theatres including Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, Page 73 Productions (NYC), Elm Shakespeare, Shakespeare & Company, Monomoy Theater, and with Quinnipiac’s Theatre for the Community.

Mariah Sage

mariah_webMariah Sage is a founding member of Theatre 4. She trained at NYU/Tisch (BFA, Drama) and Brown University/Trinity Rep (MFA, Acting) where she was a Stephen Sondheim Fellow. Mariah is an actor, director and educator. She has performed with theatres across the nation and in Europe including: The Trinity Rep, The Public Theater (NYC), The Cleveland Play House, and The Apollo (Germany). She has directed for Hartford Stage and Oddfellows Playhouse.

Mariah has taught acting at Brown University, NYU/Tisch, Quinnipiac, Hartford Stage and is currently an Assistant Professor of Acting and Theatre at Fairfield University. Mariah is a member of Actors’ Equity Association.

Jane Tamarkin

jane_webJane Tamarkin, a member of Actors Equity Association, has acted Off-Broadway, at the Long Wharf Theater, and in summer stock. She studied acting at HB Studios in New York City and at Long Wharf Theater with James Luse.

A teacher and director, Jane taught acting classes and directed productions at The Hopkins School for thirteen years and is the founder and director of the Heyday Theatre, a non-profit theater workshop for New Haven area teenagers.

She recently taught workshops for the Education and Humanities Department at Long Wharf Theater to high school students for the theater’s production of Uncle Vanya. She is an Artist-In-Residence for the Schubert Theater’s Education Outreach Program.

A judge for the Connecticut Drama Association’s yearly competitions, she was given a Distinguished Service Award for her teaching, directing, and adjuncting in 2000 by the CDA.

In addition, Jane sings in a barbershop chorus, a comedy quartet, and teaches acting and performance for singers worldwide.
